We are looking for a detail-oriented Settlement Investigation Specialist to support payment operations by investigating and resolving transaction discrepancies. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight timelines in a high-volume environment. 

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and resolve payment and settlement discrepancies, including failed, delayed, or rejected transactions
  • Perform root cause analysis on transaction issues and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Monitor payment flows and identify exceptions, anomalies, or breaks in settlement processes
  • Liaise with internal teams (Operations, Technology, Compliance) and external stakeholders (banks, partners) to resolve issues promptly
  • Ensure all investigations are completed within defined timelines and in line with service level agreements
  • Maintain accurate records of investigations, resolutions, and audit trails
  • Support reconciliation processes and ensure alignment between payment systems and records
  • Escalate critical issues and risks in a timely manner to relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and AML/CFT guidelines
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
  • 3–6 years of experience in banking operations, payments, or settlement investigations
  • Strong understanding of payment flows, reconciliation, and settlement processes
  • Familiarity with payment systems such as SWIFT, MEPS+, or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of AML/CFT and regulatory requirements in financial services
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
