About SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme (Traineeships)

The SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways programme was introduced to support mid-career individuals to widen their professional networks and gain new, in-demand skills while preparing for more permanent jobs in the future. Mid-career individuals on the Enterprise Attachment track can gain meaningful industry-relevant experience by being attached to a host organisation. Host organisations can fill these positions with mid-career individuals who bring with them a wealth of work experience. Upon completion of the attachment, host organisations may consider hiring well-performing individuals as permanent employees when business conditions improve and when they have greater confidence to hire.

Funding Rate

The Government will fund 80% of the training allowance, while the host organisation funds the remaining 20% for the programme duration. The monthly training allowance provided may vary depending on the scope of the attachment.

What if I am a recent or fresh graduate?

Recent or fresh graduates can explore traineeship opportunites under the SGUnited Traineeships programme instead.

Must the mid-career individuals be unemployed to be eligible for the SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme?

The programme is targeted to assist unemployed mid-career individuals. Participants should be able to commit to the programme on a full-time basis, at the point when they start the programme.

Can an attached mid-career individual leave when the attachment begins?

Attached mid-career individuals are encouraged to stay on in the attachment until completion, to pick up valuable industry experience to boost their employability. However, attached mid-career individuals can leave the attachment at any point in time, if there are good reasons to do so (e.g. offered a full-time role elsewhere). Before doing so, attached mid-career individuals should provide sufficient notice to the host organisation, as stipulated in the training agreements.

As an attached mid-career individuals, if I am offered a full-time role with the host organisation while on attachment, can I accept it?

Yes, host organisations can offer their attached mid-career individuals with a full-time role, if they find the individual’s performance satisfactory. When a full-time position is offered by the host organisation, the attachment should be terminated before entering any employer-employee relationship.

What happens upon the completion of the SGUnited Mid-Career Pathwaysattachment?

Upon the completion of the attachment, attached mid-career individuals will cease their training at the host organisation. Host organisations can decide if they would like to hire the mid-career individual on a full-time basis based on the attachment performance. Attached mid-career individuals are also able to pursue career opportunities elsewhere.

How much is an attached mid-career individuals’s training allowance?

Host organisations are to provide a monthly training allowance depending on the attachment requirements:

What kind of benefits (annual and sick leave etc.) can I get while on attachment?

As this is an attachment where there is no employer-employee relationship, host organisations are not obliged to offer employee benefits to attached mid-career individuals. Host organisations may choose to offer non-monetary benefits on a discretionary goodwill basis.

Will I be covered by workplace insurance?

The workplace injury insurance will be provided.

Who will be paying me my monthly training allowance?

The monthly training allowance will be given to attached mid-career individuals by the host organisation on a monthly basis for the duration of the attachment.

Will I be getting CPF Contributions during the course of the attachment?

Under the SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme – Enterprise Attachment track, there is no employer-employee relationship. Host organisations will not make any CPF contributions during the period of the attachment.

How can I apply for SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme – Enterprise Attachment positions?

Mid-career individuals who are keen to apply can visit mycareersfuture.sg and search for attachment opportunities by selecting ”For workplace attachment” under government support. Apart from mycareersfuture.sg, eligible candidates can also find SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways attachments through INTERNSG as some host companies may utilize INTERNSG as part of their shortlisting and selection processes.

To reduce the additional administrative effort required for host organisations, WSG has automatically opened up earlier-approved SGUnited Traineeships positions for SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways – Enterprise Attachments. These positions are now searchable through ”For workplace attachment” under government support. These host organisations have up to 12th Aug 2020 to opt-out from opening their current traineeship vacancies to mid-career individuals

Interested mid-career individuals who decide to apply for SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways opprtunities between 1st to 12th Aug 2020, should check MyCareersFuture.sg portal again after 12th Aug 2020 to see if the host organisation has opted out. If the host organisation has opted out, the application will not be processed. Alternatively mid-career individuals can hold back the submission of their applications into SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways until after 12th Aug 2020.

Am I allowed to apply for attachment vacancies if I’m currently on a contract/ part time employment?

Yes, you may apply onto any of the approved attachment opportunities found on MyCareersFuture. Mid-career individuals will need to ensure that they can participate in the attachment programme on a full-time basis to qualify for funding, if they are selected by the host organisation for the attachment applied for.

What if I am unable to secure an attachment?

Applicants unsuccessful in securing an attachment can sign up for other attachment opportunities on mycareersfuture.sg or seek assistance from WSG’s Career Connect Services and NTUC’s e2i’s career centers. Alternatively, applicants can expore other job opportunities on INTERNSG.
