The Job

Role Overview: 

We are currently seeking highly qualified professionals to join our team as Country Expert for the East Asia region

This role is ideal for individuals with a background in law, academia, journalism, political science, or NGO/human rights work, who possess deep knowledge of the region and are capable of producing accurate, well-researched, and articulate reports in English.

The role involves supporting legal professionals, NGOs, and academic institutions by delivering detailed, country-specific insights related to political developments, human rights, social structures, and legal frameworks in East Asia.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct in-depth research and provide expert analysis on political, legal, social, and human rights conditions in your area(s) of expertise.
  • Deliver professional, well-documented reports to support legal cases (including asylum and immigration) and academic/public policy projects.
  • Review and interpret case documents in conjunction with legal standards and country-specific context.
  • Work collaboratively with legal teams and researchers to meet agreed deadlines and deliverables.

Ideal Candidate

  • Substantial knowledge and experience dealing with political, social, and/or human rights issues in one or more East Asian countries.
  • A background in law, political science, international relations, human rights, journalism, or a related field.
  • Accreditation or membership in a recognized professional body is an advantage.
  • A portfolio of written work (e.g., academic articles, reports, legal briefs, journalistic pieces) related to East Asia.
  • Fluency in English and strong writing skills are essential
  • Strong punctuality and ability to meet deadlines while delivering high-quality work.
