Skillseed is a social enterprise that designs global experiential service-learning journeys for social impact, in Asia and beyond, with the intention of helping to build a trust-driven and collaborative society.

The organisation distills insights from journeying with different communities, into experiential learning curricula that amplifies the partnerships and engagement capabilities of stakeholders. These include government leaders, corporate stewards, teachers, youths, social workers and more. There are two complements of the business: The training and experiential learning programmes.

The training programmes - the Human-centred Leadership and Community Engagement (HLCE) Toolkit as well as our Integrated Social Innovation Toolkit - are developed by Skillseed over years of expertise and working with communities to equip leaders across all sectors and all levels. While their experiential learning programmes aim to develop youths (and the young at-heart) into resilient and adaptable changemakers who possess entrepreneurial dare and intercultural fluency.

Job Description

 As our Intern specialising in Project Management in our Community Building Complement,

You will work directly with our Community Builders in the Complement. You will be trained to support the Community Building team in designing, facilitating and managing both in-person and virtual experiences as well as providing business development support. 

Specifically, you’ll be:

  • Designing, developing, implementing and facilitating innovative and socially impactful community building courses in Singapore. These courses would be experienced in in-person, virtual or blended formats.
  • Supporting our non-profit initiative Resilience Trails, where Skillseed, alongside friends with disabilities, single mothers and individuals from other under-resourced communities, as well as our partners from AMKFSC Community Services, have co-created trails in our Guides’ neighbourhoods to bring our participants along a journey of empowerment, empathy and endless possibilities. 
  • Supporting the Community Building team to coordinate with our diverse partners and stakeholders; managing course logistics, admin matters and budgets from end to end.
  • Providing support to identify, develop and cultivate professional relationships with a diverse client base through research, virtual and/or face-to-face outreach, exhibitions and follow-up of leads from our online content and referrals.
  • Supporting our Community & Capability Building teams in widening our outreach to potential client partners, including untapped markets locally and internationally.
  • (For university students) Promote Skillseed’s work by researching and writing ‘Thought Leadership’ articles to highlight our expertise in experiential learning/ education, specifically in capability development and community engagement. 
  • (For university students) To provide research, admin and operational support in new business development initiatives
  • (For university students) To consolidate, analyse and provide recommendations to improve Client Partner Satisfaction for our programmes

REQUIREMENTS

Some traits and skills we’re looking for: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Preferably competent in a Second Language, written and verbal
  • Familiar with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite, especially Powerpoint and Excel
  • People-orientedness - You enjoy and naturally host or join community or gatherings without being asked to; you are also a natural connector who enjoys building relationships across different networks, backgrounds and cultures
  • A growth-oriented mindset. It sounds like a platitude, but it’s crucial in our space - you are always seeking to improve yourself and it reflects in your work quality
  • Prior experience in project management and/or business development will be preferred
  • Prior experience in at least one or more of the following areas: service learning, facilitation, community development, marketing and/or business development, social causes and youth development will be preferred

Please note that this internship is under the Global Ready Talent Programme (supported by Enterprise Singapore).

The GRT only supports full-time internships for Singaporeans and Singapore PRs. They must be full-time students from ITE, NYP, NP, RP, SP, TP, NTU, NUS, SUSS, SIT, SMU or SUTD. Internship duration is a minimum of 6 weeks.
