Job Description

Job Purpose

To provide support in the overall aspect of the volunteer management programme (Recruit, Training and Retention), support HR Communications & Resource Development Department (by providing pictures with quotes and short stories for social media post), supporting awareness and fundraising events, as well as admin and accounting matters as assigned by the Director CS / Operations Manager.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Volunteer Management

  • Support the home to implement strategies and channels to recruit, engage, retain and manage volunteers through the following:
    • Work closely with departments to manage volunteer programmes and activities.
    • Organise and implement special or ad hoc projects involving group, corporate and individual volunteers.
    • Work with Volunteer Management Department to evaluate and review volunteer programmes and support in giving talks to the public about volunteering opportunities at the RCHD.
    • Evaluate and review volunteer programmes, activities, participation and engagement.
    • Work with Outreach Division to develop resources or supporting collaterals for the area of work.
    • Manage volunteer database and be responsible for associated budgets and expenditure.
    • Manage relations and maintain good rapport with stakeholders to sustain interest and support RCHD programmes.

2. Fundraising

  • RCHD as with any charity is reliant on donor support to fund our programmes.
    • Research potential donors and cultivate existing donors to gain insight into needs, beliefs and donation habits to understand how to position our organisation to them, and cultivate new corporate donors.
    • Update and deliver presentations to promote the work of RCHD, and fundraising events and activities.
    • Leading or support and coordinating events meant to raise funds including working with volunteers and interns for event execution.
    • Provide support for collaborative fundraising with corporate partners including giving advice on fundraising and attending events.
    • Identify, develop and implement innovative fundraising activities including leveraging on technology and social media where possible, to improve fundraising activities.

3. Administration

  • Undertake recording of staff meetings.
  • File all communications with internal and external parties on various matters.
  • Work with foreign care staff to support your work (Events / Fundraising) and support their work (Volunteers).
  • Handle finance and procurement matters.
  • To keep organised and well-maintained fundraising & Gifts in Kind records required for audit by the authorities / auditor / finance staff.
  • Any other matters which are assigned.

4. Customer Management

  • Assist in receiving and attending to visitors to RCHD.
  • Communicating with vendors on purchase especially with regards to corporate social responsibility and fundraising matters.
  • Communicating with Finance Department on finance matters.

5. Any Other Duties

  • Assist in events held at the Red Cross Home for the Disabled and Singapore Red Cross Society.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned within the capacity and scope of staff duties.
  • Any other duties or tasks as assigned by the Management.

 

Job Specifications

Technical Competencies:

  • Good networking ability and proficient in face-to-face solicitation for donations, and enjoy meeting people.
  • Social media savvy
  • Proficient in organising and managing events or activities

Core Competencies

  • Innovative, resourceful, team player, mature and able to work independently
  • Quick to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent command of oral and written English and other spoken languages would be an advantage.
  • A heart for those who are poor, needy and disabled
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) with good command of English.
  • Good presentation and reporting writing skills
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to speak a few languages or dialects would be an added advantage.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to people of all levels.
  • Enjoy working with people

Qualification

  • Minimum GCE 'O' or 'A' Level of Diploma
