Job Description

Purpose of the Position

The Accountant is responsible for providing financial support to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial reporting. 

Scope

  • The Accountant needs to work closely with the rest of Finance team in order to ensure consistency and best practice is developed and maintained across the function, proactively driving the ongoing improvement of business practices and performance across Finance function.
  • Support activities relating to general accounting and timely period-end closing and reporting in compliance with FRS, Group accounting policies and procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare financial & management reports and related analysis and commentaries.

Responsibilities

  • Handle period-end closing activities including GL Journal entries.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing of accounts.
  • Prepare monthly reporting package for group consolidation purpose.
  • Tax reporting and compliance (e.g. GST/WHT/Corporate Income Tax).
  • Support internal audit, statutory audit and related matters.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial & management reports and the related analysis and commentaries.
  • Prepare and perform review on Balance Sheet and P&L monthly schedules and bank reconciliations.
  • Support the preparation of the yearly budget. Perform financial analysis of actual results against budget/forecast.
  • Responsible and maintain Fixed Asset Register and Inventory Register.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures; provide trends and forecasts; explain processes and techniques; recommend actions.
  • Improve on current processes, procedure and internal controls as required.
  • Handle ad hoc assignments and projects as and when required.

Job Requirement

  • Min. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalents. ACCA or CPA preferred.
  • At least 5 years of accounting and audit experience.
  • Computer literate (MS Office, MS Outlook, Microsoft Dynamic Navision, Lucanet).
  • Prior experience as General Ledger Accountant with multinational corporations.
  • Experience in financial analysis for business segments will be an added advantage.
  • A good problem solver.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Committed, responsible, independent and team player.
  • Able to work independently under fast-paced environment and perform OT when required.
  • Know how to prioritise and react according to the urgency of things.
  • Willing to learn and positive attitude.
