Job Description

Yearning for the opportunity to start a community garden from scratch and create an impact on the sustainability movement? Life3 Biotech is presenting this opportunity for eager students and aspiring cultivators to partner with industry veterans on landscape design and be involved in public outreach and engagement, gaining vital real-world experience and skills in this exciting, hands-on internship. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Work with appointed landscaping service provider to develop and establish the designated space for Community Garden in line with the organisation's objectives 
  • Site Development: Assist with site clearing, creating pathways and preparing garden beds 
  • Planting & Horticulture: Prepare simple instructional kits for planting shrubs, vegetables, and flowers to be used by community volunteers involved in the gardening at subsequent phases 
  • Garden Maintenance: Carry out weeding, watering, pruning, mulching, and pest management to maintain a healthy and aesthetic environment 
  • Community Engagement: Assist in hosting community workshops, engaging with volunteers, and helping educate residents on gardening techniques 
  • Operational Support: Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring site cleanliness and safety
  • Community Engagement: Organise workshops and sharing sessions for residents to pick up basic farming skills and horticultural knowledge

Job Requirements

  • Academic Qualification: Students currently pursuing or graduands of Higher Nitec in Landscape Management & Design 
  • Work Experience: Some basic work experience in landscaping or horticulture management 
  • Competencies & Personal Qualities: 
    • Reliable, positive and keen attitude towards learning 
    • Able to perform outdoor physical manual work under various weather conditions, where safely permitted 
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and able to work with people from diverse groups
  • Intern will be required to work on selected weekends at subsequent phase of the internship period when community engagement workshops are organised for the public. Work schedule may be adjusted accordingly to maintain at 5-day work week.
