Job Description

Welcome to IRIS Singapore.

Thanks for considering an application to Iris. Before we begin, we just wanted to tell you a little bit about ourselves and what kind of organisation we aspire to be.

Iris is a creative innovation network, with offices in 17 countries. We pride ourselves in being “For the Forward.” Our people and skill sets may be diverse but we are centered around one product. Progress. Creative, radical, come out of nowhere and blow your mind kind of progress for our clients.

Sometimes we make ads. Sometimes we design new physical products. Sometimes we code new digital services. It really depends on the client problem we’re aiming to solve.

But that’s enough about us, let’s talk about you. And why you might be here, reading through this job description.

We know that graduating from school and trying to find your way in this world is a hard enough challenge, without a global pandemic and worldwide recession throwing a spanner in the works.

We know you’re probably fed up with Zoom classes, or bored sitting around twiddling your thumbs waiting for the job market to recover. And we want to give you an opportunity to get some real hands-on experience of what it’s like to work in the marketing sector.

Which is why we’re launching the Iris Strategy Internship.

We’re proud to say that this is an internship experience designed by interns, for interns. Designed to be a supercharged jumpstart to your career. It’s a programme that empowers you to hit the ground running, learn an absolute shitload, make some valuable connections, and be an amazing stepping stone to whatever you want to do next.

THE IRIS PLANNING INTERNSHIP

In this internship, here are some of the skills you will learn as part of the Planning team. We see Planning as the creativity that sits behind creativity, where you will have to...

Be the Voice of the Customer

You will be entrusted to go out to where our client’s customers are, and strike up conversations that will unearth insights into why people behave and buy the way they do. You will be asked to put yourselves in the shoes of the customer, and your findings will become an important part of every brief.

Be at the Coalface of Culture

You’re always on top of what’s going on in the world - the latest trends, our competitors’ advertising efforts. Your opinion will always be heard in a work culture that’s always seeking an alternative POV.

Get Involved with the Entire Creative Process

From brief to brainstorming to budgeting, you will get to observe up close the endless possibilities (and limitations) on the work we get to create for our clients. This also means learning the art of creative feedback, crafting creative thought-starters, as well as rigorous research to prove (or disprove) our conjectures and hypotheses.

Leave your Mark on the IRIS Family

By committing to every task relentlessly, and proving to the Iris family your hunger to thrive in our agency, you create connections with the very best minds. Connections that will teach you why certain work works, what questions to ask, where to find the answers, and how to get ahead in an industry that’s evolving every day.

INTERN HACKS BY PAST INTERNS:

“Don’t be afraid to be a kid again”

The inherent curiosity and need to question everything around you when you were a child? Bring it back. You’re on the constant lookout for anything and everything interesting going on in the world.

“The key to being an intern is to not treat yourself like one.”

The entire agency will absolutely refuse to treat you like an intern, so why should you? From Day 1, you will be treated like an equally-contributing, junior member of the team, so make the most out of that.

“Have fun getting your hands dirty”

You have to be enthusiastic and willing to go above and beyond for the task at hand, whether that means sitting in a competitor store grilling customers about what they hate about our client, or running polls on your own Instagram to gauge sentiment towards a certain product.

“The mind that is not baffled is not employed.”

Be unafraid to ask questions, be even more unafraid to make mistakes.

“Be a literal sponge”

Have the habit of noting everything down and learning from it.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2-month internship for undergraduates, 3-month internship for graduates

  • Year 3 Undergraduates and above

  • Minimum GPA score of wecouldntgiveashit

  • No prior agency experience needed. It’s an internship for a reason

REMUNERATION:

  • $800SGD/month for undergraduates, $1000SGD/month for graduates

  • One off-in-lieu per month

So that’s enough from us, now onto you.

Tell us what makes you tick, what gets you up in the morning, how you wandered onto this job posting in the first place.

We can’t wait to hear your story.
