Established in 1966, the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) constantly works to make all aspects of general insurance easier and more effective for consumers, agents and insurers based in Singapore.
As a Trade Association, we are actively involved in the business community representing the interests of our member companies. We assist in identifying emerging trends and responds to issues affecting the General Insurance industry. We seek to promote the overall growth and development of the Singapore General Insurance sector.
About the GIP
The GIA Internship Programme, a.k.a. GIP, is an annual 10-12 weeks internship programme open to all undergraduates across any discipline.
A renowned industry internship initiative, the GIP is in its 12th edition this year and matches applicants to dynamic internship positions with our participating host companies. This year, we are proud to feature a diverse range of internship positions from Underwriting to Marketing to Product Development.
The GIP is a curated and structured programme that is customized with the interns in mind. Interns can expect to gain first-hand insights into the business environment under the guidance of their mentors.

The Underwriting Intern will:
1) Assist Underwriters in populating risk and data analysis and reporting
2) Use of pricing tools to check for rate adequacy
3) Identify areas of enhancements in existing insurance products
4) Coordinate with the support team to ensure valid and timely responses on requests for quotations
5) Comparison against competitors products and coverage
6) Work with the claims team to attain effectiveness in the claims process
7) Review endorsements on existing policies to identify any change in original coverage or amounts. Evaluates, accepts, rejects or modifies risks within established underwriting guidelines.
