Fresh Ord / Undergrads - Investment / Business / Economics / Legal Internship
This Internship opening (1 month for Undergrads or 2-3 months for fresh ORD personnel awaiting commencement of University studies) aims to build the candidate's profile in several ways.
1) Training
a) To train candidates in areas of Estate Planning and Distribution Law
Our in house legal counsel will coach the interns on sophisticated areas of estate planning especially in wills and trusts. Candidates will go through seminars and be attached during legal consultations to understand more about the subject matter of estate planning and distribution. Candidates will also be exposed to topics of Business planning including succession and investment trusts
b) To train candidates in areas of Investments
- Candidates will undergo training sessions with fund managers and subject matter experts, and be taught on how to read investment funds fact sheets, prospectus of Unit Trusts Investment. Candidates will also undergo training in hedge funds investments, Pre-IPO investment, portfolio management, mortgage investments and understand about global deals cross border M&As, risk arbitrage strategies, deal valuation and shareholder analysis, black-knight takeover and etc
c) To train candidates in areas of Business consultancy
- Candidates will understand the various business contracts concepts and understand how to negotiate during a business communication, and how to follow up with proper business contracts. Candidates will also understand the use of simple accounting statements during the course of the internship. Candidates will understand how to draft simple contracts in business transactions and the elements of a business contract including its terms and exit
d) To train candidates in corporate finance
Candidates will learn under an accountant on forensic accounting, including the use of financial accounting ratios when reading a company's financial standing. Candidates will also be introduced to concepts such as Merger and Acquisition, Initial Public Offerings and venture capital during the course of the internship
e) To provide general knowledge in Macroeconomic analysis and treasury investments
- Candidates will undergo training sessions with an Economist to understand the trends in Economics and how he chose certain strategies in portfolio management during different economic climates
e) To provide candidates general knowledge in Digital Marketing and Coding
Candidates will shadow an experienced marketer who has more than a decade of marketing leadership experience in MNCs and in lecturing. Candidates will be shared on the topics of Professional Personal Branding, which will be useful for future internship/employment opportunities. On top of this, candidates will also experience a chance to undergo training workshops conducted internally on topics of Coding using Javascript, and to solve several problems using coding
f) To train candidates in Leadership and People Management
Candidates will undergo sessions with a C-suite professional, who has obtained high ranking positions in big companies and in the public sector to understand about effective leader traits and people management, which are 2 essential topics of today's business
2) Networking
Networking helps the candidate stays on top of the latest trend of the Investment industry, by giving the candidates real time exposure to professional Fund Managers from big companies. Through such networking events, candidates are able to understand investment objectives of fund managers, how they analyze certain trends , how they prepare investment reports for audit purposes and what are their investment philosophies. Candidates will also go through sessions with IPO lawyers, to understand the legal and compliance aspect of a company going listed. These IPO lawyers will also share with candidates on private equity investments and how corporate litigation and work stays relevant in these areas. Candidates will also be exposed to an economist to understand about macroeconomic analysis impact on certain investments and on treasuries. Through such interactive sessions, candidates are able to expand their professional network and thus, enhancing their future opportunities
