Our spiritual ministry also reaches out to the people in the community to provide counsel to those in need. We are there to help guide those in need towards finding their identity and purpose in life.

Job Description

INTERN PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES

This internship supports the Human Resources team in strengthening day-to-day HR operations, recruitment coordination, employee records management, and staff engagement support across The Salvation Army Singapore. The intern will help improve documentation, coordination, and administrative processes so that the HR team can maintain responsive and well-organised people support.

1) Recruitment Coordination & Hiring Support

  • Post job advertisements, screen applications, and coordinate interview logistics with candidates and hiring managers.
  • Observe and participate in the full hiring cycle, from vacancy to offer, to understand how hiring decisions are made.

2) HR Administration & Employee Records Support

  • Prepare employment letters, forms, and internal HR correspondence.
  • Maintain and organise employee records with accuracy, supporting good data hygiene and audit readiness.
  • Gain familiarity with how documentation standards and data protection principles (PDPA) apply in practice.

3) Engagement & Learning Support

  • Research training programmes and external learning resources; help shape the team's training plan and learning roadmap.
  • Coordinate training sessions and learning events - venue, attendance, and feedback collation.
  • Maintain training records and update the learning management system.
  • Support staff engagement activities and internal events.

4) HR Process Improvement

  • Observe existing workflows, SOPs, and templates with fresh eyes, and surface ideas from current HR practices and your own learning.
  • Document and review On-the-Job Training (OJT) blueprints, a focused, hands-on way to understand how we structure staff learning and onboarding.
  • Research relevant workforce grants, funding schemes, and identify opportunities the organisation may benefit from.
  • Compile findings into clear summaries, comparison tables, and practical recommendations for the HR team.

5) Confidentiality, Compliance & General HR Support

  • Handle all employee and candidate information with professionalism, care, and strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to follow up on documents and support timely completion of HR matters.
  • Take on ad hoc project and administrative support, a natural part of any HR role, and a good way to build organisational awareness.

Qualifications

INTERN REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate in Human Resource Management, Business, Psychology, Social Sciences, or related fields
  • Strong organisational and documentation skills
  • Comfortable with MS Office and basic digital tools
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Able to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Willingness to learn, support team operations, and take initiative when needed
  • Interest in human resources, employee engagement, and nonprofit or mission-driven work environments

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN

  • Priority consideration for future employment opportunities at The Salvation Army.
  • Practical, hands-on exposure across end-to-end HR functions in an established, mission-driven organisation.
  • Real experience in process review and SOP documentation - skills that are directly transferable to any HR or operations role.
  • Exposure to the Singapore workforce grants and funding landscape from an employer's perspective.
  • Mentorship from experienced HR professionals with broad operational and people management experience.
  • The opportunity to contribute meaningfully to work that supports people and communities across Singapore.
