The internship is based in Singapore, as a member of a dedicated legal team of three lawyers, one being the Head of Legal. 


Job Description

Activities

The Legal Intern will assist the legal team in various assignments which include:

  • reviewing, drafting and amending contractual documents related to the trading and business activities of TEGPA and its subsidiary/affiliates, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies
  • drafting and filing of company secretarial and governance documents, including board resolutions, meeting minutes, and statutory filings
  • preparing and coordinating regulatory licence applications and supporting the legal team in other regulatory matters
  • conducting detailed legal research and analysis to support the resolution of legal queries
  • updating, managing and improving TEGPA’s Contracts Register and internal contract electronic filing systems, ensuring accessibility and accuracy
  • performing ad hoc tasks and providing administrative support as requested by the supervising lawyer(s)
  • participating in the deployment of the Compliance program and supporting the compliance risk mapping
  • providing broad legal support to the Head of Legal to ensure the proper administration of corporate and administration functions
  • assisting in the development and refinement of TEGPA’s systems, policies and guides, with a focus on legal and regulatory issues
  • participating in training sessions, team meetings, and cross-departmental projects to gain broader exposure to TEGPA's legal and business operations

 

Context and environment

The Legal Intern will operate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment within TEGPA, where the legal team plays a critical role in supporting the company’s compliance, governance, and risk management efforts while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.

The Legal Intern will be exposed to a diverse range of legal matters, including contract law, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance. This environment offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical legal skills and gain insight into the functioning of an in-house legal department. The Legal Intern will work closely with the Head of Legal and other team members, benefiting from mentorship and hands-on experience in addressing complex legal challenges. The role also involves close collaboration with TEGPA’s trading and business development teams, providing the intern with hands-on exposure to the legal and commercial aspects of the company’s operations.

Accountabilities

Delivering high-quality legal support by conducting thorough research, preparing accurate documentation, and ensuring timely completion of assignments

Demonstrating proactivity and attention to detail in all tasks, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the team

Adhering to TEGPA’s values and policies, including its commitment to compliance, ethical practices, and corporate governance excellence

Maintaining confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive legal and business information

Ensuring the accuracy and organization of TEGPA’s Contracts Register and internal contract filing system

Building strong working relationships with team members and stakeholders

Qualifications/Experience required

Currently pursuing a Law degree, with a strong academic track record and a demonstrated interest in corporate, regulatory, or commercial law

Excellent IT skills (Word, PDF, Excel and PowerPoint)

Fluent in written and spoken English, with proficiency in an additional language being a plus.

A collaborative team player with strong organisational, time management and communication skills

Adaptability and willingness to learn, demonstrating a willingness to take on new challenges and adapt to a dynamic work environment

Strong work ethic and motivation, showing initiative and the ability to work independently when required

Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all assignments and deliverables

Availability for a longer internship period is highly desirable
