We are seeking suitable interns who enjoy research, critical thinking, and creating educational content that benefits the wider community.

We are looking for a curious and motivated intern who is interested in understanding the forces that shape financial markets, businesses and everyday financial decisions. This role provides an opportunity to combine research, critical thinking and content development while gaining exposure to a broad range of financial and business topics.

You will spend time exploring publicly available information and developing a deeper understanding of current developments across markets, economics, investing, companies, personal finance and wealth planning. You will then help turn your research into informative and engaging content designed for audiences with different levels of financial knowledge.

Rather than simply gathering information, you will be encouraged to understand the context behind the numbers, identify what is important and consider how a complicated subject can be communicated in a simple and meaningful way.

The Role:

A key part of the internship will involve keeping up with developments across financial markets and the wider economy. You may follow company announcements, economic data, market movements, industry developments, investment themes and changes in the business environment. When a particular topic is identified as interesting or relevant, you will have the opportunity to investigate it further and develop a clearer understanding of the factors behind it.

Your research may contribute to internal briefing materials, background research, educational resources, market-related content and digital media. You will learn how to locate useful information, compare different sources, identify the key takeaways and organise your findings into a format that others can easily understand.

The internship will also involve identifying subjects that could be developed into useful educational content. This may mean spotting an emerging trend, researching a commonly misunderstood financial concept or finding a more accessible way to explain something that is traditionally considered complicated.

Content Development:

Research will be closely connected to content creation throughout the internship. Depending on the project, you may contribute to written articles, social media content, short-form videos, visual explainers, market updates and other digital materials.

You will have opportunities to participate in different stages of the content process, from coming up with ideas and researching a subject to developing the key message and helping shape the final presentation. You will also be encouraged to suggest topics, storytelling approaches and creative ways of communicating information.

The emphasis will be on making financial information understandable rather than simply making it more technical. You will learn how to consider an audience's existing knowledge and adapt your communication style accordingly.

Financial & Investment Education:

A significant area of the role will involve exploring subjects that can help people develop a stronger understanding of financial concepts. These may include investing fundamentals, financial markets, stocks and bonds, inflation, interest rates, saving, budgeting and long-term financial planning.

You may also research current financial developments and examine how economic or market events can affect businesses, investors and consumers. Through these projects, you will gain a broader understanding of how different areas of finance are interconnected.

The internship is focused on education and research. It does not involve providing personalised financial advice, making investment recommendations for individuals or assessing financial products according to a person's specific circumstances.

Wealth & Business Exposure:

In addition to markets and personal finance, certain projects may provide exposure to topics related to wealth and business planning. These can include estate planning, succession, business continuity, ownership structures and the considerations involved in managing wealth over the longer term.

You may have the opportunity to research how personal, family and business interests can overlap and how different financial considerations need to be taken into account when looking at longer-term planning.

Depending on the projects available, you may also gain insight into areas of private wealth and financial services. Internal learning sessions and opportunities to observe experienced professionals may provide additional context and allow you to see how financial and business topics are discussed in a professional setting.

What We Are Looking For:

This role would suit someone who enjoys learning independently and is naturally inclined to ask questions and investigate how things work. You may already have an interest in investing, economics, financial markets, personal finance, business, wealth planning or digital media, although extensive prior knowledge is not necessary.

We value curiosity, attention to detail and the ability to work independently. You should be comfortable researching unfamiliar topics, working with information from different sources and developing your own understanding before communicating your findings to others.

Strong written and verbal communication skills will be useful, particularly because the role involves translating technical or complex subjects into language that is clear and accessible. An interest in content creation, social media, video or digital storytelling would also be beneficial, as the internship provides opportunities to explore different methods of communicating ideas.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is willing to learn and take ownership of their work. You do not need to have all the answers when you start. We are more interested in your ability to ask good questions, find reliable information and develop your thinking as you learn.
