Role Summary
The Business Development Manager will drive growth of The Internship Guy’s paid subscriber base, expand its social media presence, and develop and promote 1-1 career consultation packages. This is a strategic, hands-on role for someone passionate about education, digital media, and career development.
Key Responsibilities
Paid Subscriber Growth
Develop and execute strategies to convert free readers to paid subscribers, including email marketing, content upgrades, and referral programs.
Analyze subscriber data to identify trends and optimize conversion funnels.
Collaborate with the editorial team to create exclusive content and offers for paid members.
Track and report on subscriber growth metrics and revenue targets.
Social Media Channel Expansion
Design and implement a multi-platform social media strategy (LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, etc.) to increase brand awareness and audience engagement.
Create and schedule engaging content tailored to each platform, including posts, stories, and short-form videos.
Monitor social media analytics, adjust campaigns for optimal reach, and foster community engagement by responding to comments and messages.
Identify and collaborate with influencers, career coaches, and partner organizations to amplify reach.
1-1 Career Consultation Packages
Develop, market, and manage packages for 1-1 career consultations, including resume reviews, interview coaching, and personalized job search strategies.
Coordinate with career coaches and consultants to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Gather feedback from clients to refine offerings and improve customer satisfaction.
Promote consultation packages through the newsletter, website, and social media channels.
Partnerships & Outreach
Identify and pursue partnership opportunities with universities, student organizations, and employers.
Represent The Internship Guy at virtual and in-person events, webinars, and workshops to attract new subscribers and clients.
Reporting & Optimization
Regularly report on KPIs: subscriber growth, social media metrics, and consultation sales.
Use data-driven insights to iterate and improve business development strategies.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience in business development, digital marketing, or subscription-based media.
Strong understanding of social media trends and digital content marketing.
Excellent communication, project management, and analytical skills.
Familiarity with Substack or newsletter platforms is a plus.
