I.       Assistant Editor - Chinese

A.    

1.     Supporting editorial staff in allactivities leading to publication, including acting as a personal assistant to commissioning editors and overseeing tasks such as issuing contracts and dealing with royalties;

2.     Dealing with the administration ofwork commissioned to freelance writers, picture researchers, photographers,stylists and illustrators;

3.     Dealing with phone and email queries,e.g. from writers and the public;

4.     Other routine administrative tasks.

5.     In some areas of editorial work (e.g.for an in-house company publication), the work may also involve:

a)     writing articles and reports;

b)     amending articles;

c)     collating the work of several authors;

d)     Using specialist electronic publishing packages (e.g. QuarkXPress and/or InDesign).

6.     In online publishing your duties could also include:

a)     proofing, editing and writing online content including via social media;

b)     uploading text and images to a websiteusing a content management system;

7.     Compiling newsletters using web design software and distributing newsletters using specific software.
