Job Description

Summary: Provides day-to-day technical support to employees for network infrastructure and internal desktop systems software and hardware.

Essential Functions:

  • Installs, configures and troubleshoots desktop systems, workstations, servers and network issues in a heterogeneous environment.
  • Maintains passwords, data integrity and file system security for the desktop environment.
  • Communicates highly technical information to both technical and non technical personnel.
  • Recommends hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.
  • Act as participant in the development of information technology and infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to set priorities for projects.
  • Ability to conduct training programs designed to educate an organization’s computer users about basic and specialized applications.
  • Quick to learn and understand industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
  • Provides technical guidance and direction to less experienced technical staff.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Excellent soft skills to interact with senior internal and external personnel.
  • Works on related projects and/or assignments as needed.
  • Triages, diagnoses and/or transfers work requests and incidents to appropriate group.
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and will coordinate activities with other personnel.
  • Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
  • Other duties as required.


Qualifications:


Education and/or Experience:

A technology-related bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and 2+ year experience in related field. An advanced degree may reduce the minimum experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Advanced knowledge of ticket tracking tools.
  • Outstanding in support of Microsoft products.
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Operation System
  • Knowledge of MAC platform
  • Familiarity with inventory control systems.
  • Knowledge of imaging software.
  • Familiarity with remote control tools. 
  • Advanced request/problem documenting and tracking skills.
  • Advanced hardware/software troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with ITIL.
  • Proven ability in troubleshooting, documenting and transferring problems/requests over telephone, through email or web.
  • Outstanding verbal and written skills.
  • Experience in working in an IT organization and knowledge of various IT functional group responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with desktops, laptops and system peripherals.
