We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Investment Analyst Intern to join our team. As an Investment Analyst Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our investment activities in the rapidly growing field of aquaculture startups. You will work closely with investment managers, assisting with deal sourcing, conducting due diligence, and preparing investment memos. Additionally, you will conduct research in the areas of ocean health and sustainability, the aquaculture innovations, the seaweed supply chain, and the circular economy.

Responsibilities:

  1. Deal Sourcing: Assist in identifying potential investment opportunities in aquaculture startups through market research and industry analysis.
  2. Due Diligence: Support investment managers in conducting thorough due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including analyzing financial statements, market trends, and competitive landscapes.
  3. Investment Memos: Assist in the preparation of investment memos, including writing and editing comprehensive reports that summarize key findings and recommendations.
  4. Research: Conduct in-depth research on various topics related to ocean health and sustainability, seaweed farming, alternative food sources, and the circular economy. Stay updated on industry trends and developments.
  5. Data Management: Organize and maintain spreadsheets, deal flow charts, and other investment-related data. Ensure accuracy and integrity of data to support informed decision-making.
  6. Financial Evaluation: Evaluate the financial performance and projections of potential portfolio companies, utilizing financial models and key performance indicators to assess investment viability.
  7. Ad-hoc Projects: Collaborate on various ad-hoc projects or requests as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
  2. Knowledge: Familiarity with investment concepts, financial analysis, and business valuation techniques. Strong understanding of aquaculture, ocean health, sustainability, and related topics is a plus.
  3. Research Skills: Proficient in conducting research, analyzing data, and synthesizing information from diverse sources. Ability to critically evaluate and interpret financial models.
  4. Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and identify key investment opportunities. Attention to detail is crucial.
  5. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write clear and concise investment memos and reports. Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members and external stakeholders
  6. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and modeling. Experience with financial software and databases is desirable.
  7. Passion for Sustainability: Demonstrated interest in environmental sustainability, circular economy principles, and innovative solutions to global challenges.
  8. Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with colleagues and contributing to the overall success of the investment team.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the investment industry, specifically in the field of aquaculture and sustainable practices. We offer a dynamic and supportive work environment that values growth and learning.
