Job Description

About this role

Support the execution of the global sales strategy for ferro alloys within the context of the broader stainless & specialty steel raw materials sales strategy. This includes the development of a multi-commodity ferro-alloy trading book, covering commodity sourcing and origination and the creation of new customer and sales opportunities with a view to maximising the sustainable value of the regional sales book within risk and governance policies.

Provide key insights into local and regional markets, suppliers, customers and competitors across the sales and trading book.

Sales & Business Development

  • Maximize value from OM’s existing ferroalloys portfolio through geographical diversification and product mix strategy
  • Manage existing customer relationships and engage them regularly, develop new accounts
  • Understand customer specific value-in-use for all products and potential products, including customer specific trade-offs
  • Devise sustainable sales strategy and negotiate to improve realized outcomes
  • Act as lead source of market intelligence in the global ferroalloy market and related markets
  • Create effective and value adding relationships between sales and production assets
  • Explore and develop spot trading opportunities tangential to existing sales
  • Identify and research growth opportunities for both equity production assets and medium-term trading

Risk and Governance

  • Execute sales and trading strategy within Marketing’s defined risk and governance framework

Qualifications:

  • Experience in the marketing of dry bulk commodities is essential
  • Knowledge of supply and demand of a ferrous alloy or any related commodity
  • Ability to actively identify and support the management of price risk in equity and third-party transactions.
  • Analytical and strong logical thinker, results oriented;
  • Self-driven team player, a good listener and good communicator;
  • Systematic and organized, able to thrive under pressure and situational ambiguity;
  • Strong communication skills with ability to drive the team positively
  • Excellent written and spoken communication in English and Chinese to liaise with counterparts.
  • Ad-hoc traveling as and when required.
