Situated in the heart of the Civic District, the Gallery is housed in two national monuments—City Hall and former Supreme Court. Both have been beautifully restored and transformed into a magnificent 64,000 square metre venue.
Reflecting Singapore’s unique heritage and geographical location, the Gallery presents Southeast Asian art within the global context. We work with international museums such as Centre Pompidou, Musée d'Orsay, Tate Britain, National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo (MOMAT), and National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), to positioning Singapore as a key node player in the global visual arts scene around the world.
As an intern, you will support the Audience Development team in the planning, development, and coordination of audience engagement initiatives. You will work on initiatives responding to both permanent and changing exhibitions and contribute to preparations for key signature events such as Gallery Children’s Biennale and Light to Night festival. This role is suitable for students who are interested in arts programming, exhibitions, and public engagement.
Learning Outcomes
• Develop research skills required to produce and implement programmes responding to exhibitions at the Gallery
• Gain an understanding of key criteria involved in the selection of artists for programme commissions
• Learn to identify and apply audience engagement strategies across different exhibitions and signature events (adults, families, and youths)
Intern Responsibilities
• Assist the team in planning and implementing programmes, including being on duty for selected programmes where required
• Support the updating of “What’s On” listings, website content, and Facebook events pages
• Work closely with the Audience Development team to conceptualise and support programmes for key signature events
Requirements
• Available to commit full-time (Monday to Friday) for a minimum of 3 months (up to 6 months), starting from May/Jun
• Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Arts Management, Events Management, or a related field
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Experience in planning, organising, or volunteering for programmes or workshops for diverse audiences is an advantage
