IOLI Labs – Web Designer / Developer Intern

About the role:

We are seeking a talented and creative Web Designer/Developer Intern to join our team. You will be responsible for designing and developing a website for a new brand from scratch and seeing the project through from start to finish. You will be leading the conception, design, development, implementation and deployment of our new brand’s website. You will also help in shaping further the visual identity of the brand by designing new elements as needed and establishing new standard for the brand digital applications.

This internship is not just about great execution – you will come up with the big ideas.

Responsibilities :

Website Creative Concept Development & Design:

• Develop and execute all visual design stages from concept to final.
• Conceptualize creative concepts aligned with the brand identity.
• Create conceptual designs, storyboards, wireframes, mockups of webpages, user flows, process flows and site maps to communicate interaction and design ideas.
• Expand the visual identity of the brand by designing buttons and other controls for the site, visual imagery, and other elements as needed.
• Establish website design guidelines, standards, and best practices that will be added to the Brand Identity Guidelines to ensure consistency in the long run.

Website Development & Deployment:

• Execute both the front-end and back-end development of the responsive website as per the final, approved designs.
• Build the entire website, incorporating functionalities and features as discussed, and populate the content.
• Test the website for usability and functionality, troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality assurance and optimal performance.
• Launch the website.
• Make backup files of the site.
• Prepare documentation and user training for subsequent update and maintainance of the site.

Ownership & Team Work:

• Take ownership of assigned work and progress independently, all while engaging effectively and proactively with other team members, taking direction when appropriate.
• Present creative concepts and designs to the team for review, engage in constructive critique dialogues, and make necessary revisions and adjustments to designs and development based on feedback.
• Conduct research and stay up-to-date with the latest web design and development trends, best practices, and technologies.

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Web Design, Web Development, or a related field.
• Previous internship in a similar position or other relevant hands-on experience.
• Experience using design tools such as Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or Figma.
• Proficiency in front-end development web programming languages such as HTML and CSS, JQuery, and JavaScript, and/or other web development tools such as website builders and CMS like WordPress, WebFlow, Elementor, SquareSpace, Wix, etc.
• Ability to design visually appealing, responsive, and user-friendly web pages.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Self-motivated, organized, accountable.
• Portfolio of previous web design and development work (please send a copy of / link to your portfolio as part of your application).
