HLA (BMG) is a diversified business group comprising multiple subsidiaries operating across the built environment industry. As a Group, we are focused on driving business growth, operational excellence, and talent development through our people and businesses.

About the HR Team

Our HR team supports multiple entities across the Group, partnering closely with business leaders on workforce planning, talent development, organisational effectiveness, and HR initiatives. Beyond day-to-day HR operations, we play a key role in shaping manpower strategies and supporting business growth across our subsidiaries.

Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and analytical HR Intern to support our Human Resources team in workforce planning, manpower analytics, and learning & development initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in strategic HR, particularly in manpower planning, establishment management, and workforce optimisation across multiple business entities. The intern will work closely with HR and business stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making and contribute to projects that enhance workforce effectiveness and organisational capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in manpower planning exercises, including headcount tracking, vacancy monitoring, and workforce analysis.
  • Support the review and maintenance of establishment structures and approved manpower levels across the organisation.
  • Compile, analyse, and interpret workforce data to identify manpower trends, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Prepare dashboards, reports, and presentations for management review.
  • Assist in workforce budgeting and manpower forecasting activities.
  • Support organisational restructuring, job redesign, and workforce optimisation projects where required.
  • Coordinate with business units to gather manpower requirements and workforce-related information.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of manpower and organisation structure databases.
  • Support HR projects, employee engagement initiatives, and Learning & Development activities as assigned.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties and projects assigned by the HR team.

Why Join Us?

This internship offers a rare opportunity to gain exposure to strategic HR work beyond traditional HR administration. You will work directly on workforce planning and establishment management initiatives, contributing to business decisions that shape organisational growth and capability. The experience gained will be highly valuable for students interested in HR Analytics, Organisational Development, Learning and Development, and HR Business Partnering careers.

Candidates with any of the following will have an advantage:

  • Understanding of workforce planning, manpower planning, or organisational development concepts.
  • Knowledge of establishment management and headcount planning.
  • Experience with Power BI, HR analytics, or data visualisation tools.
