Required Training and Education
- Working toward degree in IT or closely related field
- Availability for full time work schedule (hours can be flexible based on student’s schedule)
Responsibilities and Duties
The Data Security Intern will be responsible for (though not limited to)
- Reviews security technology processes, procedures and solutions to include log monitoring
- Monitors viruses, malware, and intrusions
- Maintains documentation of security breach resolution procedures
- Assists in incident prevention, detection, containment, eradication and recovery across IT systems, including developing processes, monitoring events, responding to incidents, summarizing and reporting findings
- Conducts log analysis; monitoring and responds to security incidents
- Perform other duties or projects, as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience with host and network security technologies such as firewalls, proxies, and operating systems
- Knowledge of application and network security
- Ability to manage timelines and meet tight deadlines
- Meticulous with good oral and written communication skills
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks
- Possess good interpersonal skills needed to work with both in-house and external parties
- Self-motivated, constructive and positive attitude
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to present data in a consistent and clear manner
