About Founders Doc
This is a full-time, remote internship role for a Legal Tech Intern at Founders Doc.
In this hybrid and tech-forward role, you will sit at the intersection of corporate law, AI data operations, and legal-tech product optimisation. You will assist our internal teams with preparing, reviewing, and organising critical legal documents related to early-stage company operations, while simultaneously playing a crucial part in testing and scaling our newly launched AI contract review platform (foundersdoc.ai). Far from a traditional legal internship, you will actively leverage generative AI tools to accelerate legal workflows, format legal documents into clean HTML editions, and run rigorous quality testing on our AI outputs. If you are a law student or legal studies graduate who is passionate about cutting-edge technology and data-driven legal operations, this role is for you.
Development Milestones
We believe in structured growth. During this internship, your journey will look like this:
- Months 1-2: Build a deep understanding of Founders Doc’s corporate legal templates, workflows, and the core mechanics behind foundersdoc.ai. Learn to run initial data validations on the AI platform's contract outputs, and master the use of AI tools to process and convert standard legal materials into clean HTML editions.
- Months 3-4: Take independent ownership of systematic testing tracks for foundersdoc.ai using various corporate agreements (NDAs, employment contracts, term sheets). Confidently use AI to troubleshoot formatting or cross-referencing errors in complex legal agreements, ensuring large batches of legal data are properly structured for platform integration.
- Months 5-6: Confidently assist on more complex fundraising or corporate structuring matters. Propose prompt or workflow improvements to our internal legal-tech templates based on your rigorous testing insights, and work closely with the internal team to support platform updates from concept to implementation.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
1. Legal Support & Document Preparation
- Drafting & Reviewing: Assist the internal team with drafting, formatting, and reviewing standard corporate legal agreements (such as incorporation documents, NDAs, employment agreements, and term sheets).
- Compliance & Administration: Help maintain accurate digital corporate records, update client transaction trackers, and ensure key deadlines are met.
2. AI Platform Testing & Quality Control
- AI Accuracy Auditing: Actively test, audit, and stress-test the foundersdoc.ai contract review platform. Feed various standard legal documents (such as NDAs, employment agreements, or term sheets) into the system to check for structural consistency, bugs, and false positives.
- Edge Case Tracking: Methodically document findings when the AI misinterprets clauses or stumbles, ensuring technical bugs or prompt discrepancies are clearly flagged for the internal team.
3. Data Operations & HTML Processing
- HTML Edition Formatting: Leverage generative AI tools to convert, clean, and format standard legal document templates into optimised HTML formats for platform use.
- Prompt & Output Validation: Help evaluate the precision of the AI's contract analysis against real-world legal standards to ensure the platform delivers trustworthy results.
- Originality & Integrity: Ensure that all drafted materials, HTML editions, and research points are rigorously cross-checked, verified for accuracy, and are never simply copied word-for-word from external sources.
Qualifications
- Background: Currently pursuing or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB), Computing & Law, Legal Studies, or a related field with a strong interest in corporate, commercial, or startup law.
- AI-Fluent & Tech-Forward: Highly comfortable using generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) as a productivity multiplier. You should be eager to use AI not just for writing text, but for data cleaning, prompt testing, and generating quick HTML code snippets.
- Attention to Detail: An absolute obsession with accuracy. Legal documents and platform templates require flawless grammar, precise cross-references, and zero formatting errors—especially when validating AI-assisted work or coding fragments.
- Adaptable & Autonomous: A self-starter who thrives in a remote environment, likes challenges, takes initiative, and is comfortable stretching beyond traditional legal tasks into digital, technical, and data workflows.
- Exceptional Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to break down complex legal concepts into clear, professional, and structured text or data points.
- Startup & Business Interest: A genuine passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, and the legal-tech ecosystem.
