The EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC) is the primary voice for European Business within the ASEAN region. The overarching objective of the EU-ABC is to promote changes in policies, rules and regulations so that European businesses can more easily invest and develop their businesses in ASEAN, benefiting not only their own shareholders but local economies and populations as well.
Formally established and constituted in early 2014, the EU-ABC has successfully organised several ASEAN-EU Business Summits and regularly interacts with the European Commission, ASEAN Member States, ASEAN Secretariat, and other related organisations such as the ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
The EU-ABC’s membership consists of large European MNCs and the nine European Chambers of Commerce from around Southeast Asia. As such, the EU-ABC represents a diverse range of European industries cutting across almost every commercial sphere from car manufacturing through to financial services and including FMCG and high-end electronics and communications. Our members all have a vested interest in enhancing trade, commerce and investment between Europe and ASEAN.
The EU-ABC has established, and continues to develop, a series of Advocacy Groups covering both individual commercial sectors (e.g. Automotive; Insurance; Financial Services; ICT; Healthcare) and cross-industry issues (e.g. Customs Procedures & Trade Facilitation; IPR/Illicit Trade).

Research Internship (3-6 months)
Internship Objectives
The Research intern will gain first-hand experience working in a dynamic organisation within the government affairs industry. He/She will be responsible for doing research work on the various industries and advocacy groups covered by the EU-ABC. The intern will also be supporting our flagship survey, and other publications, which involve data collection, evaluation and overall publication needs. He/She will have the opportunity to attend conferences and seminars on the covered topics. The intern will be reporting directly to the Executive Director, and will have the opportunity to work with the Executive Board of the EU-ABC.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or studying for a Bachelor’s Degree requiring an internship;
- Strong interest in international or government affairs;
- Broad knowledge of trade and investment relations in the ASEAN region;
- Excellent research and excel skills, writing and critical thinking skills;
- Ability to analyse and summarise data efficiently and compellingly
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Independent worker and a team player
