About Bizlink Cafe

Bizlink Cafe is an F&B social enterprise that has a mission to serve good food with a great cause. The new cafe serves international gourmet food at value prices. Bizlink Centre and the Institute of Mental Health collaborated in this project with the aim to provide training and employment to the disadvantaged, especially mental patients.

Job Description

Reporting Address: 10 Buangkok View, Singapore 539747 (Institute of Mental Health campus).

Working Hours: 

  • Monday – Friday: 8am to 4pm
  • Saturdays: 12pm to 4pm
  • May be required to work on weekends and Public Holidays if operational needs arise.

 

  • Leads kitchen team in chef's absence
  • Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, to line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
  • Oversees and organises kitchen stock and ingredients
  • Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance
  • Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours
  • Trains new kitchen employees and people with special needs in basic F&B skills
  • Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimises waste, plus works with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns
  • Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
  • Works with head chef to maintain kitchen organisation, staff ability, and training opportunities
  • Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed
  • Assists Head Chef with menu creation
  • Ensures the kitchen activities operate in a timely manner
  • Monitors and records inventory, and if necessary, order new supplies
  • Creates schedule for kitchen staff

Job Requirements: 

  • Certificate in Culinary skills, or its equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant working experience in culinary.
  • Knowledge in various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
  • Excellent organisational and management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and positive attitude towards fostering teamwork among associates in support role.
  • Ability to lead, motivate a team of staff, adapt, embrace strong cultural diversity, and work with persons with disabilities (PWDs).
