Job Description

The Asian Trade Centre is seeking Research Assistants to join our team for an internship. Research Assistants are integral members of the ATC. With their critical analysis skills and their experience in research, Research Assistants form the Centre's backbone of knowledge creation and expertise building in the ever-evolving landscape of international and regional trade in Asia.

Throughout the internship, Research Assistants will:

  • Analyse trade agreements negotiation and implementation in Asia related to the work of
    ATC’s partners and customers;
  • Collaborate on research papers prepared by the ATC for its customers;
  • Develop and explore research interests that contribute to the ATC's positioning as regional thought leader;
  • Draft internal and external briefing documents and materials (policy papers, recommendations, memos, etc.);
  • Attend seminars, workshops, and conferences, and report to internal staff on the latest
    developments in international/regional trade and related fields;
  • Monitor daily news sources of relevance for internal staff circulation, focused on major trade negotiations and agreements including the US trade policy, the future of TPP, RCEP, and AEC.


Eligibility requirements

Candidates must have completed an undergraduate Bachelor's degree or be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in trade, trade policy, economics, political economy, or international economic policy and law. We are looking for candidates who have:

  • exceptional writing skills;
  • strong editing and analytical skills, as well as ability to think critically about research scope;
  • interest in academic research and the policymaking process;
  • previous work experience and ability to work independently.
