We engage a range of companies, banks and investors in the areas of Energy Transition, Protein Transition, and Sustainable Real Estate and Infrastructure. https://www.asiareengage.com/

Job Description

The Energy Transition Programme’s efforts specifically seek to understand and investigate the challenges and opportunities of the shift from fossil-based systems of energy production and consumption (coal, oil, natural gas) to renewable energy sources (wind, solar, etc.) within Asia’s energy sector.

These efforts are backed by investors with a combined asset base of US$ 5 trillion. The Energy Transition Platform seeks to engage at least 50 Asian companies across all of Asia’s leading financial markets, with an initial focus on carbon risk and coal at financial institutions and coal-exposed power companies.

This internship with ARE’s Energy Transition programme is a great opportunity to gain deeper insights into sustainable investments, energy transition, and investor engagement. This role would suit candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds including finance/investments, economics, or communications who are interested in having practical experience on ESG / sustainability in the finance sector.

You will be involved in:

  • Participating in meetings with Asian power companies and banks to discuss their decarbonization strategy and encourage improved disclosures and policies.
  • Assisting with tracking the decarbonization progress of companies and benchmarking them with their peers
  • Participating in other background research on energy transition

Requirements

  • Penultimate, final year undergraduates / postgraduates / recent graduates (above disciplines)
  • Available for a minimum of 12 weeks, ideally 5-6 months.
  • Any nationality with permission to work / intern in Singapore
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Tenacious, collaborative, and intellectually curious
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team
