Job Description

The Analytics Intern will have the opportunity to gain and apply knowledge of fundamental analysis in the oil and gas industry. The Analytics Intern will support the Analysis team in the development of market analytics for Trading and Shipping and the wider Caltex business. The Analytics Intern will support the Commercial Analysts in data collection, data cleaning and improving supply and demand fundamentals data used in trading and shipping decision making. The Analytics Intern will also work closely with data engineers in delivering data analytics projects.

Leverage analytical, technical, and communication skills to translate macro-economic events and supply and demand fundamentals into a market view. Tasks involve analyzing refinery developments, trade flows, macroeconomic trends, among others, to form forecasts.

Projects will be focused on the expansion and continuous improvement of our data sources, processes and models, including the automation of data collection from various sources into a big data platform.

Develop analytical and reporting tools to deliver commercial insights utilizing database development skills, data visualization tools or programming.

Collaborate with analysts and traders in any relevant analysis involving any form of market intelligence from import and export data to vessel tracking.

Perform topical analyses and support ad-hoc data requests from Trading and Shipping, Strategy, or Business Development.
