Company Profile

Founded in Singapore in 2004, Akribis Systems is a motion control company that provides high precision direct drive motors. We construct products for a range of industries including renewable energy, semiconductor, communication, biomedical, robotics or any industry that requires precise motion.

We produce direct drive motors with a high force density and patented coil design that decreases cogging. Our linear and rotary motors also are available with stages that we manufacture ourselves so you can smoothly integrate the motor into your design.

More than simply a manufacturer, we are also innovators. Our deep knowledge of engineering and dedication to the work has resulted in 44 patents, and our research and development into the field of magnetics will only continue to grow our business. Our engineers are able to custom design motors and stages to your specific requirements with you as a co-developer.

Today, we have two production factories and numerous sales and support offices across the globe. At Akribis Systems, precision matters.

Department Overview:

The stage R&D department develops new technologies and motion system products, also known as stages, for the semiconductor industry. Combining Akribis' industry-leading direct-drive motor technology with excellent mechanical design, the motion systems we build position payloads with precision well below a micron, stable within nanometers, all in the timespan of milliseconds.

Achieving these feats require a broad range of engineering considerations ranging from mechanical design, control engineering, precision manufacturing and assembly, vibration control and isolation, metrology, etc. We are a multidisciplinary team of engineers working together on some of the most challenging motion control applications in the world.
Job Description
  • Serve as the technical authority on fluid-thermal science in Akribis stage business unit
  • Formulate and run thermal-fluid calculations and simulations to support design of precision stages (thermal management, particle management, etc.)
  • Drive continuous improvement of our air bearing and hydrostatic bearing design capability

Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess at least Doctoral Degree and/or equivalent, preferrably in mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, aerospace engineering, physics and/or any other relevant course of study.
  • Fresh graduates with advanced degrees and relevant knowledge in their course of study are welcome to apply.
  • At least 4 years of industrial or doctoral-level research experience in a related field (fluid mechanics, thermal management etc.)
  • Expertise in use of commercial and/or open-source CFD simulation software required

Other Information

Skillset(s) Requirement:

  • Strong theoretical understanding of fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer relevant to precision machine design (air bearings, hydrostatic bearings, airflow for thermal and particle management)
  • Familiarity with commercial CFD software (e.g. ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM) required
  • Ability to derive and explain complex technical concepts to engineers from other disciplines
  • Strong project management and coordination capability

Attributes:
  • Strong sense of accountability to drive assigned project towards success
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers
  • Ability to coordinate and focus efforts from a multi-disciplinary project team towards a common goal
  • Good hands-on skill and willingness to assemble, test, and debug prototype stages
  • Openness to collaborate with teammates from different engineering discipline (mechanics, controls, electrical engineering, etc.) to come up with designs that are optimal from a multidisciplinary persective
  • Flexibility to adapt rapidly to shifting commercial and technical needs
