Job Description

The Assistant Cost Controller supports the monitoring, analysis, and reporting of manufacturing costs to ensure cost efficiency, accurate product costing, and profitability. The role involves close collaboration with the production, procurement, and finance teams to track material usage, labour, and overheads within a food manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining standard product costing, including raw materials, packaging, labour, and overhead allocations.

  • Monitor daily production inputs and outputs to track usage variance and yield efficiency.

  • Support month-end closing activities including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS), and WIP (work-in-progress) adjustments.

  • Assist in the analysis of actual vs. standard cost variances and highlight areas for improvement.

  • Coordinate with the production and warehouse teams to ensure accurate stock takes and raw material movement records.

  • Track and report on scrap, wastage, and production losses with input from QA and operations.

  • Maintain cost master data in ERP systems (e.g., BOMs, routings, inventory pricing).

  • Support budgeting and forecasting of production costs.

  • Prepare regular cost reports and analysis for management decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • 1–3 years of experience in cost control, preferably in food manufacturing or FMCG environment.

  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles and inventory control.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite).

  • Meticulous with numbers and strong attention to detail.

  • Good communication and coordination skills across departments.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
