Started as a symbolic lights-out campaign in Sydney (Australia) in 2007, WWF’s Earth Hour has grown to become the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment - largely focused on climate change - mobilizing millions to take climate action in 187 countries and territories. Now in its eleventh year, Earth Hour has gone beyond the hour and achieved massive environmental impacts around the world by harnessing the power of the crowd.
Major Functions:
This role is part of the Digital team at WWF International Communications and Marketing Division based in Singapore, reporting to Head of Digital.
The primary role is to assist in the digital channels of WWF, including campaign activity for Earth Hour over a six-month period, helping to create, maintain and monitor diverse content for WWF and Earth Hour’s global social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
The role will also involve researching emerging global platforms and consultation with the wider WWF network to deliver key social media materials and source content for WWF and the upcoming Earth Hour campaign.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Digital Team by helping to monitor results of content delivered on global social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
- Work with analytic tools to report on digital media engagement, identify trends and key learnings.
- Help to execute image and video based content for global social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
- Help to create written content for different digital platforms and audiences, demonstrating an understanding of audience profile, platform requirements, Earth Hour and WWF tone-of-voice for campaign related content.
- Help maintain relationships with key Earth Hour organisers across the WWF network, sourcing relevant images, videos and information to be adapted for global social media channels.
- Liaise with partner agencies on innovative ways to increase reach and engagement.
- Work with content management systems to help manage content on WWF and Earth Hour websites.
- Support broader teams’ requests on an ad-hoc basis.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Advanced written and verbal English skills are a must, along with the maturity to work in a global, multi cultural environment
- Basic knowledge in design software such as Photoshop
- Willingness to learn and research about social media trends and industry
- Understanding of social media platforms and how to engage audiences using different types of image based content
- Willingness to learn about the global Earth Hour campaign and conservation goals of WWF
- Interest in environmental and sustainability issues
