The company is a Singapore-based commodity exchange building next-generation market infrastructure for global commodity trading. The company is known for developing new pricing benchmarks and physically deliverable futures contracts in critical markets such as LNG, carbon credits, battery materials, and gold. It focuses on improving price transparency, risk management, and trading efficiency for commodities central to the global energy transition.
The Data Analyst (Trainee) will play a key role in supporting the exchange’s market intelligence, trading analytics, and operational reporting capabilities. This role will work closely with trading, clearing, product, and technology teams to analyze market data, monitor trading activity, and generate insights that support market development and decision-making.
The ideal candidate has strong analytical capabilities, experience working with large datasets, and an interest in financial markets, commodities, or exchange environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze large volumes of market, trading, and clearing data to generate insights that support exchange operations and market development.
• Develop dashboards and analytical reports to monitor trading volumes, liquidity, pricing trends, and market participation.
• Support the development and monitoring of commodity benchmarks, particularly across LNG, carbon markets, battery materials, and precious metals.
• Identify patterns, anomalies, or market trends through data exploration and statistical analysis.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including trading, clearing, product development, and risk management to support data-driven decision making.
• Maintain and improve data pipelines, data quality checks, and reporting frameworks to ensure accuracy and reliability of market data.
• Assist in building models and tools that support market surveillance, pricing analysis, and liquidity analysis.
• Support regulatory reporting and internal reporting requirements related to exchange operations.
• Contribute to research and market intelligence on global commodity markets and derivatives trading.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
• Familiarity with financial markets, derivatives, commodities trading, or market data analysis is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate analytical findings into business insights.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
