Company Profile

Wellsmart Group is a Singapore-headquartered property investment and development group. We act on the owner/developer side of hospitality, villa and residential projects in Australia and New Zealand, including a large island resort redevelopment in Queensland. Our Singapore team works directly with architects, engineers, contractors and site teams across the region, and we use AI-assisted workflows as part of everyday design and project work.

Job Description

What You Will Do

  • Review consultant MEP drawings and specifications (HVAC, electrical, hydraulics/plumbing, fire services) and log comments against the brief and applicable Australian / New Zealand codes and standards (e.g. NCC, AS/NZS).
  • Prepare and check engineering calculations such as cooling and heating loads, ventilation rates, electrical maximum demand, and water supply / drainage demand, and keep the calculation register up to date.
  • Coordinate MEP services with architectural and structural layouts: space for plant rooms, risers and ceiling voids, and clash checks in 2D and Revit.
  • Compare equipment options on 10-year total cost of ownership (energy, maintenance, spares and remote-site logistics) and help prepare technical schedules for RFQ and tender packages.
  • Use AI tools and simple scripts (e.g. Excel, Python) to speed up repetitive calculation and checking tasks, and write up the method so the team can reuse it.
  • Maintain drawing, RFI and design-decision registers, and join online coordination meetings with project teams in Australia and New Zealand.

What You Will Learn

  • How thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics and power systems are applied to real buildings.
  • How MEP design is regulated, reviewed and certified in Australia and New Zealand.
  • How an owner/developer weighs capital cost, operating cost and maintainability when making design decisions.
  • How to use AI tools responsibly in engineering work, including checking and documenting AI-assisted results.
  • How to communicate technical issues clearly with consultants, contractors and management in a cross-border team.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Currently enrolled full-time at uni, and eligible for your school’s credit-bearing internship programme: inculding: Eng. Mechanical Engineering; B.Eng. Electrical Engineering; B.Eng. • Completed core modules in thermodynamics / heat transfer, fluid mechanics, or electrical power systems.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD; experience with Revit (MEP) is a plus.
  • Comfortable with Excel; Python or other scripting experience is a plus.
  • Interested in building services and in using AI tools to work faster and better.
  • Careful with numbers, checks own work, and asks questions early.
  • Clear written and spoken English, as you will work daily with Australian and New Zealand consultants.
