Company Profile

Varsity Tech is a fintech startup building AI-powered products at the intersection of quantitative trading, financial markets, and intelligent agent systems. We are looking for a highly driven Business Development & Investor Relations Intern to support our fundraising, investor communications, strategic partnerships, and broader company growth.

This role provides direct exposure to the founders and the startup fundraising process, making it ideal for someone interested in venture capital, fintech, startups, investment, or entrepreneurship.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Investor Relations

  • Maintain and manage our investor and fundraising pipeline, including investor databases, CRM records, follow-ups, and meeting status.
  • Research and identify relevant VC funds, family offices, angel investors, strategic investors, and fintech-focused funds.
  • Conduct targeted outreach to prospective investors and coordinate introductory calls and meetings.
  • Prepare investor profiles and background research before meetings.
  • Follow up with investors after meetings and maintain ongoing relationships with existing and prospective investors.
  • Assist with regular investor updates covering company progress, product development, traction, partnerships, and key milestones.
  • Help manage fundraising documentation, data rooms, investor FAQs, and due-diligence requests.

Fundraising & Communications

  • Assist in preparing and improving pitch decks, fundraising materials, company profiles, financial/traction summaries, and investor presentations.
  • Help communicate the company's vision, business model, product differentiation, traction, and growth strategy clearly to investors.
  • Track investor feedback and identify common questions, concerns, and themes to help improve our fundraising strategy.
  • Monitor relevant fundraising activity, fintech investments, comparable companies, and industry developments.

Business Development

  • Identify potential strategic partners across the fintech, trading, AI, crypto, brokerage, financial services, and technology ecosystems.
  • Reach out to prospective partners and help develop new business relationships.
  • Represent the company at relevant startup, fintech, AI, investment, and networking events.
  • Build relationships with founders, investors, financial institutions, accelerators, and other ecosystem participants.
  • Support the founders on ad-hoc strategic initiatives and business development projects.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or recent graduate in Business, Finance, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable communicating professionally with senior executives, investors, founders, and external partners.
  • Strong research skills and ability to quickly understand companies, industries, and investment firms.
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple conversations, follow-ups, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Strong interest in fintech, AI, financial markets, startups, venture capital, or investing.
  • Familiarity with Excel/Google Sheets, PowerPoint/Google Slides, LinkedIn, and CRM tools is advantageous.

We Are Looking for Someone Who

  • Is confident reaching out to people and starting conversations.
  • Has strong interpersonal skills and enjoys building relationships.
  • Can communicate complex ideas in a simple and persuasive way.
  • Takes ownership rather than waiting to be given tasks.
  • Is commercially minded and understands that strong investor relations requires both relationship building and disciplined follow-through.
  • Is genuinely interested in understanding how a high-growth fintech startup is built and financed.

What You'll Gain

  • Direct exposure to the CEO/founding team and company-level strategic decisions.
  • Hands-on experience with the full startup fundraising process.
  • Opportunities to interact directly with VCs, angel investors, family offices, founders, and industry executives.
  • Experience building and managing an investor network and fundraising pipeline.
  • Deep exposure to fintech, AI, quantitative trading, and capital markets.
  • Significant responsibility and ownership compared with a typical internship.

This is a high-ownership role suited to someone who wants to learn fundraising, investor relations, and startup business development from the inside rather than simply perform administrative tasks.
