Job Description

East Asian Studies Research Mentor - The Ivy Institute

The Ivy Institute is a highly prestigious college admissions consulting firm that helps students gain admission to Ivy League and other top universities. We are looking to hire an East Asian Studies Research Mentor to work one on one with a high school student for a 3 month research project.

This is a fully remote, virtual consulting role and is very flexible. The time commitment is minimal: just three 1 hour calls with the student over the course of 3 months. Between calls you may provide light guidance and feedback on the student’s research direction.

Who we are looking for:

You are a PhD candidate, PhD holder, postdoctoral researcher, or university professor with a background in East Asian Studies, History, Politics, Sociology, Literature, or a related field. You have strong knowledge of East Asia and can help a student develop and scope a research question. You are a clear communicator, patient, and enjoy mentoring younger students. You are reliable and can guide a student through basic research methods, source selection, and structuring a paper or project.

Compensation is negotiable based on experience.

If you are interested in earning extra income by mentoring a motivated student and sharing your expertise, we would love to hear from you.
