SPH Media Limited – Video Journalist Intern – Tamil Murasu Editorial

Tamil Murasu is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Video Journalist Intern to join our newsroom. The intern will support the team in identifying, researching and producing engaging news and community-focused content for Tamil Murasu's digital platforms.

This role is ideal for students or fresh graduates who are passionate about journalism, current affairs, storytelling and video production, and who are comfortable working in both Tamil and English.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist journalists and editors in researching and developing news stories.

• Identify interesting news, community and human-interest story ideas.

• Conduct interviews with members of the public, newsmakers and relevant stakeholders.

• Shoot video footage and photographs for news stories and digital content.

• Produce and edit short-form video reports for digital and social-media platforms.

• Assist with scripting, captions, voiceovers and other video-production requirements.

• Write clear and engaging news copy in Tamil and/or English.

• Attend press conferences, events and other assignments as required.

• Monitor current affairs and emerging stories relevant to the Tamil-speaking community in Singapore.

• Collaborate with journalists, editors, photographers and video producers.

• Perform other newsroom and content-production duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma/degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media, Communications, Broadcasting, Digital Media or a related field.

• Strong interest in news, current affairs and storytelling.

• Good written and verbal communication skills in Tamil and English.

• Basic knowledge of video shooting, editing and digital content production.

• Familiarity with video-editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut Pro or equivalent is an advantage.

• Comfortable conducting interviews and interacting with people from different backgrounds.

• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

• Willing to work on assignments outside the newsroom when required.

• A strong sense of curiosity, accuracy and attention to detail.
