Job Description

SPD is seeking an enthusiastic and socially conscious Communications and Outreach Intern to join the Community Partnerships team. You will assist in public education initiatives, content creation, and awareness campaigns that advocate for inclusion, raise visibility for the needs and abilities of persons with disabilities, and enhance the visibility of SPD’s work. This internship is ideal for individuals interested in communications, media, public relations, or social impact work.

Key Learning Opportunities & Responsibilities

  • Gain real-world experience supporting the planning and execution of public education talks and outreach events (e.g. corporate talks, school engagements, awareness booths).
  • Learn to develop content for social media, presentations, and collaterals.
  • Learn to conduct simple interviews with stakeholders for storytelling features, and assist in writing stories and sharing them meaningfully across different SPD platforms.
  • Support campaign rollouts (e.g. UNLABEL) by tracking engagement and helping to create short-form content.
  • Get exposure to media tracking and communication reporting.
  • Experience how communications can drive advocacy and behavioural change in society.
  • Any other communications-related tasks as assigned.

Key Requirements

  • Background in Communications, Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin.
  • Basic design and video editing skills (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) are essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Good interpersonal skills, and a team player with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
  • Organised, responsible, and able to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Strong interest in disability inclusion, social impact, or non-profit work
