Job Description

AS OUR SOCIAL MEDIA STORYTELLER INTERN:

You will be our in-house digital media designer and storyteller, working across both online and print media to support our marketing and communication efforts. You will be engaging Skillseed’s stakeholders by writing articles and content for our targeted audience. You will also be transmuting experiences, ideas and concepts into evocative visuals for our audience. You will also be exposed to different business functions ( eg. Marketing, Operations, Business development etc ) and gain insights into how these different functions of the businesses work independently and interdependently to grow the business in a social enterprise setting.

Specifically, you will be involved in 

1. Advertising and Promotion, Digital Marketing

  • Co-managing our social media platforms including the planning, design and copywriting and running of campaigns on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. 
  • Curating and writing thought leadership articles and content relevant to Skillseed’s work in community and capability developing on our Journal page, social media platforms and e-newsletters
  • Curating and writing Skillseed’s newsletters on the Mailchimp platform.
  • Working closely with our Community and Capability Developing teams to transform ideas and concepts into creative and meaningful visuals for our target audience.

2. Business to Business (B2B) Marketing, Direct and Database Marketing

  • Supporting our business development team to strategize and execute business to business (B2B) marketing efforts to current and potential partners, which includes but is not limited to schools, corporates and government agencies
  • Curating targeted database marketing strategies to reach out to different client profiles, tailored to their needs across different time periods

3. Product & Brand Management, Services Marketing

  • Designing and developing online and offline collaterals, including but not limited to our website, marketing slide decks, annual reports, course guidebooks, certificates, event publicity collaterals etc.
  • Evaluating and enhancing our current digital marketing strategies across various social media platforms to increase brand awareness
  • Organising demo campaigns for our training modules for potential clients to showcase the unique style of facilitation that participants can expect from our workshops
  • Organising pro bono runs of our flagship programme, Resilience Trails, for potential clients, with the aim of promoting future collaborations with partners. You may also experience the trails in order to better communicate and present it

4. Marketing Analytics 

  • Tracking monthly insights from our social media platforms and sharing recommendations

As you join our space, you’ll also benefit from: 

  • Active participation in the strategic planning process of a social enterprise including developing goals, objectives and processes
  • Honing skills in project management and planning
  • Exposure to the social sector and social issues, and how we might address these social issues with technology and socially impactful programmes
  • Applying a variety of design tools to develop graphics, infographics and creative visuals for our collaterals
  • Building skills in developing and managing online stakeholder engagement through newsletters, social media platforms and more

REQUIREMENTS

Some traits and skills we’re looking for: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English - please submit your past writing samples along with a cover letter for your application of this position 
  • Experience and knowledge of graphic design tools, including Canva, Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator etc. Please submit your design portfolio in your application. 
  • Strong interest and prior experience in digital storytelling and creative media production 
  • A growth-oriented mindset. It sounds like a platitude, but it’s crucial in our space - you are always seeking to improve yourself and it reflects in your work quality
