About our group:

Seagate's Motor/Mechanical Commodity Management Team is a global team that plays a pivotal role in managing the mechanical supply base for Seagate System/HDD products. We oversee the entire spectrum of activities, from sourcing strategy and price negotiation to allocation decisions, contract management, supply chain business continuity, and risk mitigation. These responsibilities directly impact our products' raw material cost, influencing our Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and profit margins.

About the role - you will:

Joining our internship program means embarking on a journey that offers:

  • Commodity Insight: You'll be closely linked with a specific mechanical commodity to gain a deep understanding of its management. Your task will include creating a comprehensive visual representation of the commodity management process.
  • Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System: Delve into the workings of our newly deployed ERP system, SAP. Learn how to efficiently update cost information within the system, contributing to our operational excellence.
  • Process Enhancement: Collaborate with the Commodity Management Team (CMT) to improve and optimize CMT workflows, thereby increasing operational efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Exposure: Gain hands-on experience working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Coaching and Negotiation: Receive guidance and space to learn the art of negotiation with key stakeholders and vendors
  • Supplier Interaction: You will also have the unique opportunity to interface with external suppliers, gaining valuable insights into supplier relationships and their role in our global supply chain.

About you:

We're looking for a candidate with the following attributes:

  • Proficiency in Tools: Exceptional skills in using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentation.
  • Analytical Aptitude: Ability to utilize analytics tools such as Tableau & Power BI and to be able to create dashboards to able to deliver the essential information effectively.
  • Adaptability: A proactive and adaptable mindset is essential. We encourage candidates who are open to effective communication, learning, and embracing challenges in a dynamic work environment.
  • Interest in Supply Chain: If you have a particular interest in supply chain and program management, we'd like to hear from you.
  • Mechanical Engineering Background: A background in mechanical engineering will helps you to better understand the commodity asset effectively.

Your experience includes:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Familiarity data analytic tools commonly used in supply chain and data analysis.
  • Passion for analytical thinking, which is crucial for effective problem-solving.
  • Effective communication skills to articulate ideas clearly to the respective stakeholders and vendors. 

Location:

Our Woodlands site is one of the largest electronics manufacturing sites in Singapore, housing our recording media operations. Spread over three sites, it is easily accessible via bus or from the MRT Station, with many employees taking mass transportation to work. Here at work, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks at our onsite canteen and coffee shop. We offer a range of facilities including an in-house gym and dance studio, as well as after-work badminton and table tennis competitions.
