Good pay and staff benefits but its a very physically demanding job
Pros: 1. High pay (on weekends its $9) 2. Staff meal for part timers ($8)
Cons: Very busy during peak hours (lunch & dinner crowds, festive occasions, etc.), but that is not the "cons" because it's part of F&B. What really matters is that even during non-peak hours, like roughly between timings from 2-6pm, more work is made to be done. The manager is very particular that all employees should be preoccupied with tasks to do. For example, lifting all chairs up to the table (Alone & its a very big restaurant space), sweeping the floor, then mopping the floor, and finally back to bringing all chairs down (Alone again). Mind that the chairs are not light at all, and your arms will be super tired. Honestly I don't know if it's because I'm a newcomer, or simply because the manager has something against me. As for kitchen works, someone will have to wash the drain, and that is also part of my job (each time I report for duty). Sometimes I really wonder if its the peak or non-peak hours that drains me. 2. The manager will pressure you to put your work availability to 10pm, if not he/she will arrange your roster in the worst way possible. For example, as a student I can only work on weekends 12-9pm. In the end, there were days where I am only rostered to work for the bare minimum of 4 hours for only one weekend, or even worst, I might not be rostered for any shift work in the whole week. Note: please be on good terms with the manager for a smooth sailing work environment for you :/
