Rakuten Asia Pte Ltd – Software Engineering Internship (Digital Marketing Domain)

Digital Marketing/Advertisement is one of the hottest areas in Tech and a booming source of revenue for internet companies.

Our Team builds applications that are used by tens of thousands of merchants to advertise their goods to tens of millions of potential shoppers. We use cutting edge technology to build these competitive services for the very demanding merchants of our ecommerce platform and are looking for talented new members for our Singapore-based team.

As a software engineering intern, you will work with a collaborative team to roll out significant enhancements to our web application that will improve our merchant’s user experience, their revenue and ours.

We are running several initiatives in parallel, from transforming monoliths into microservices and modernizing our UI tech stack to introducing new features that empower merchants to run high impact marketing campaigns. You will actively participate in one or more of these initiatives and get opportunities to understand the business domain and develop software that supports a billion-dollar business. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the Ad industry.

Assignment:

• Your main responsibility will be to understand and complete the tasks assigned

• Understand the current system design (web application)

• Develop new features using JavaScript, ReactJS and Java following the team’s software development life cycle

• Write unit-tests and integration-tests for both front-end and back-end

• Create documents to capture the technical design decisions that you and other team members have made

Qualifications:

• Curiosity and passion for solving problems

• Basic of JavaScript, ReactJS and Java programming

• Familiarity with SQL or no-SQL technologies is a plus

• Familiarity with Spring Boot, NodeJS and JPA/Hibernate is a plus

• Positive attitude and excellent team player• Good written and spoken communication skills
