Company Profile

Public Culture supports small brands in their growth by creating editorial experiences to foster relationships, shape influence, and strengthen lasting connection with their communities. We believe in developing conversations of value and content with longevity — immersive stories that engage those who truly matter to brands.

Public Culture is a small team — as such, we look for highly motivated and organised individuals who work best alone but play well in a team. Our team has a background in the humanities and social sciences so we are big on two things: writing with elegant, technical finesse, and using data to inform our content development. We're also invested in building community and not producing content, so our content strategies often entail a community-centric component.

Job Description

This is a hybrid role where you will develop content for social media and editorial platforms (e.g. blog articles and long-form, ready features for press use etc.). Our ideal candidate is a proficient writer who wants to learn how to write for different audiences and is comfortable conducting interviews. A background in English Literature and/or Communications is preferred. You must be able to begin immediately.

You will work closely with the entire team and be responsible for the following:

  • Developing long-form content for clients and Public Culture (45%)
  • Coordinating and conducting interviews and photo shoots (25%)
  • Developing social media content (20%)
  • Media monitoring (10%)

We are employing both part-time and full-time interns this quarter.

Here's what you will get out of this internship

We don't believe in narrowly defined job scopes, so expect to learn a little about everything there is to running a business: how to pitch for a job; how to develop a content strategy; how to manage clients; how to measure campaign success; how to be a better writer and a sharper editor.

Depending on your commitment, you will primarily be responsible for creating content for some or all of the following accounts: a key event for Singapore Design Week (long-form interviews, lifestyle features, and social media); a newly launched food advocacy store for children (lifestyle features); Singapore's largest shopping event of independent designers (social media, short interviews); a newly launched, socially responsible bed linen label (social media, short interviews). The aim is to get your portfolio polished and ready for a career in content production, media, and/or lifestyle writing.

Working arrangement

We work remotely from home and meet up to twice a week at Bartley for mandatory team sessions. Each meeting is capped at three hours. You will be responsible for managing your own schedule and meeting weekly deadlines. Please note you may be required to be onsite for client meetings, interviews, and shoots.
