Powerhouse AI – Android Software Developer

Powerhouse AI is a fast-growing Singaporean start-up with a vision to transform warehouses in Powerhouses. Almost 150,000 warehouses worldwide operate based on pen and paper. We aim to take them along the journey to digitalization and automation by offering the smartest and easiest to use technologies to take the burden of warehouse operators.

Our first product is Count & Go, an AI-based solution that can count warehouse inventory in seconds. It can accurately verify and (cycle) count pallets and boxes up to 5x faster to keep warehouse inventory up-to-date at all times.

We are looking for an Android developer responsible for the development and maintenance of applications aimed at a vast number of diverse Android devices. Your primary focus will be the development of Android applications and their integration with back-end services. You will be working alongside other engineers and developers working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and creating quality products is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain high performance, reusable and reliable Java code
• Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
• Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality code
• Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency

Skills

• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
• Good knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
• Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
• Understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Troubleshooting, benchmarking, and optimization skills
• Familiarity with continuous integration
• Knowledge of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines
• Have published at least one original Android app
