Group Controlling & Data Analytics Intern

Location: Singapore

Duration: 12 Months

Department: Group Finance / Group Controlling

Reports to: Group Controlling Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and analytical intern to join our Group Finance team. This internship offers hands-on exposure to financial controlling, business intelligence, automation, and data analytics within an international manufacturing and engineering group.

The successful candidate will support the Group Controlling Manager in developing reporting tools, improving financial data quality, automating processes, and delivering business insights to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Data Analytics

• Support monthly Group reporting and performance analysis.
• Analyse Revenue, Gross Margin, EBITDA and Operating Costs across all Group entities.
• Perform Budget vs Actual, Forecast vs Actual and Year-over-Year variance analysis.
• Support profitability analysis by Business Unit, Product Line, Project and Legal Entity.
• Assist in identifying financial trends, risks and improvement opportunities.

Business Intelligence & Dashboard Development

• Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards.
• Create automated KPI reporting for Executive Management.
• Build dashboards for:
  • Gross Margin Tracking
  • Project Profitability
  • Revenue Analysis
  • Cost Structure Analysis
  • EBITDA Monitoring
  • Working Capital
  • Cash Flow KPIs
  • Inventory Performance
  • Order Intake & Backlog

Financial Data Management

• Maintain and improve Group financial databases.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of reporting data.
• Clean, validate and reconcile financial datasets from multiple ERP systems.
• Support master data governance initiatives.
• Improve reporting data structures and documentation.

Process Automation

• Automate recurring reporting activities using:
  • Excel VBA / Macros
  • Power Query
  • Power BI
  • Power Automate (preferred)
• Reduce manual reporting through automation.
• Develop standardized reporting templates.

Group Controlling Projects

Support strategic Group Finance initiatives including:

• Gross Margin tracking by project.
• Business performance evaluation.
• Cost analysis and cost allocation reviews.
• Product profitability analysis.
• ROI and investment analysis.
• Budget and Forecast process improvements.
• Financial KPI standardization across Group entities.
• Reporting process optimization.
• ERP reporting enhancement projects.
• Support implementation of new finance tools and reporting solutions.

Ad Hoc Analysis

• Prepare financial presentations for senior management.
• Support Board and Executive reporting.
• Perform ad hoc business analyses requested by Group Finance.
• Assist during Budget, Forecast and Year-End reporting cycles.
