Job Description

Team information

The Comms team under Marketing & Advocacy oversees the internal and external comms and PR for NVPC and ensures the key outgoing messages pertaining to the organisation are aligned with what is being communicated internally.

The team’s key objectives are to garner positive media coverage for the City of Good and its programmes and initiatives, as well as position our Leadership Team as thought leaders in the social sector, as well as to seed the City of Good narrative internally among our staff.

Project

The intern will be assisting the Comms team with day-to-day tasks that involve writing, media monitoring and preparing presentations for CEO speaking engagements.

Learning and experiences that you will acquire from this internship

  • Exposure to a wide range of research methods, including emerging areas such as Futures and Scenario Planning
  • Strategic and business application of research
  • Effective communication of findings to stakeholders
  • A look inside the workings of a research team at a National Centre.

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct secondary research, literature reviews and/or policy reviews
  • Support the planning and conduct of qualitative fieldwork with experts and thought leaders
  • Data cleaning, analysis and interpretation of data
  • Developing reports to make recommendations for internal and external audiences to inform strategy and enhance practices

Requirements

  • Penultimate or Final Year students in Social Sciences, Economics, Global Studies or other related fields.
  • Have extensive primary and secondary research experience (those with academic publication is preferred).
  • Ability to sense-making and draw lateral connection across a large volume of data.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Curiosity and interest in looking for data and statistics that creates value.
  • A keen interest in social issues and/or non-profit space.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented.
  • Self-starter, independent, possesses a high degree of discipline and commitment.
  • Able to commit 5 working days a week.
