Job Description

Job Summary

M Diagnostics is a CAP- accredited clinical laboratory. We provide clinical services to our clients. The Lab Assistant is responsible to support the laboratory in the various areas of administration, quality assurance and lab management which including procurement, logistics, inventory management, sample registration, sample receiving, quality management and any other duties.

We are looking for an intern who can commit at least 3 months (4-6 months preferable) at a full-time (5 days per week) arrangement.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

Sample Collection and Processing (70%)

  • Perform sample registration by order entry into the laboratory information system, preparation, sorting and packing of specimens sent to the laboratory.
  • To prepare specimens and documentation in accordance with laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform basic sample processing tasks such as centrifugation and aliquoting.

 

Laboratory Testing Support/ inventory management (10%)

  • Assist in the preparation and execution of laboratory tests under the supervision of senior lab staff.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of test results.
  • Maintain and ensure laboratory equipment are calibrated up to date.
  • Maintain lab supplies inventory and ensure lab supplies are well stocked.
  • Performing any other reasonable duties or ad-hoc assignments as directed by line manager.

 

Quality Control and Compliance (10%)

  • Adhere to all safety and quality control protocols.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and help maintain laboratory certifications and accreditations.
  • Report any discrepancies or issues to senior staff promptly.

 

Inventory and Supplies Management (10%)

  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks and inventory management.
  • Assist in document preparation for purchasing functions, e.g., PR, PO and invoices.
  • To ensure billing operation smoothly and help in resolving any billing discrepancy.
  • Involved in SAP system related transactions and new item creating roles


Desired Skills and Competencies

  • Minimum Diploma holder in health science, biotechnology or related fields
  • Candidate with lab experiences is preferred.
  • Strong team player with positive work attitude, analytical minded, result-oriented, good communication and interpersonal skills are key requirements.
  • Prior experience in a similar setting and familiarity with terminology used in the laboratory would be an advantage.
  • Able to work under pressure and multi-task
  • Meticulous and attentive to details
  • Proficient in MS office
  • Knowledge in SAP would be added advantage.
