As Account Officer / Executive, Cost Control, you will join a dynamic team of Finance professionals to support the Cost Control Manager, Cost Controller and Assistant Accounts Manager to manage all Principal Cost Control functions, including Voyage expense accounts task owner and responsible for all financial data related to voyage accounts (Vessel Disbursements Account (“DA”) for Vessel / Land & Logistics (“LLIE”) / General Expenses (“GA”), analyses and reconciliations, ensuring transparency, quality, consistency, audit, reporting, improvement of Finance processes and data, as well as compliance with MSC Group SOPs, local regulatory guidelines and Singapore Financial Reporting Standards.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Accounts Manager, Cost Control, you will support in managing the day-to-day vessel cost control functions such as operational payables and expenses for vessels calling Singapore ports. Key responsibilities include:

Cost Control

• Checking and approve invoices against purchase order (“PO”), contract and HOD approval to ensure accuracy of Principal Cost.
• Support with monitoring, evaluating and analyzing all Principal expenses with the aim of reducing costs and achieve cost savings;
• To liaise with vendor for any invoices discrepancies and follow up credit notes for cost savings;
• Monitor and assist in agency KPI reporting for cost savings;
• Ensure accuracy and timely submission of provisional principal expenses;
• Ensure timely and correct daily posting and approval of operational vendor expenses;
• Verify principal costs debited against the provisional expenses reported and justify for the variances;
• Creation of supplementary DA/GA;
• Address queries on vessel DA/GA/LLIE from Principal timely;
• Ensure various monthly suspense accounts are reconciled following the timelines given by the Principal;
• Provide support on all local procurement contracts;
• Ensure proper audit trails for records according to statutory requirements.
• To issue tax invoices for recovery of Principal Expenses from third party.
• To issue tax invoices for crew change income.
• Ensure timely clearance of Owners a/c recovery

Systems and Process Improvement

• Support Assistant Manager to drive improvements and resolutions in end-to-end Cost Control processes;
• Adhere to good accounting control procedures and best practices to enhance overall accounting operations, work quality and efficiency;
• Identify system / process misalignments to support in standardization and improvement, create SRQ & follow-through to closure with System support;
• Identify and initiate improvement areas;
• Support Assistant Manager/Cost Controller in new initiatives or projects as and when required.

Qualifications

Who We Are Looking For

• Min Diploma / Degree in Accountancy / Finance, ACCA or Professional Accounting qualification equivalent;
• Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience in maintaining and executing accounting controls and reporting;
• Fresh graduates with relevant experience from internship or past temporary employment may be considered.
• Good knowledge of IFRS and SFRS accounting standards.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
• Experienced in using SAP financial system and related data flow.
• Good command in written and verbal English language for effective communication.
• High level of Integrity and Ethics.
• Organised and possess strong analytical skills with an eye for details.
• Ability to manage time well to meet tight deadlines and multi-task.
• Able to work under stress and adaptable to changes.
• Self-initiative individual who can work well in a team.
• People Management qualities with the ability to lead, develop and drive performance of direct reports.
