Established in 1995, Lions Befrienders Service Association (Singapore) [LBSA] is a social service agency dedicated to providing holistic care and support to help seniors age healthily in place with community participation, enabling them to enjoy purposeful and meaningful lives. Through the active involvement of about 1,000 regular volunteers, LBSA engages close to 13,000 seniors via a spectrum of integrated eldercare services catering to their social, emotional, mental, physical and spiritual needs. LBSA currently operates 10 Active Ageing Centres, two Community Case Management Services regions (East & West), Home Personal Care (HPC) and enhanced Home Personal Care (HPC+) [Queenstown, Clementi & Tampines] services, as well as a Befriending arm that reaches out to socially isolated seniors.

Join Our Youth Task Force (YTF) member!

We’re forming a vibrant team of young changemakers to review, develop, and enhance programmes at our Active Ageing Centres (AACs). As part of the YTF, you’ll get hands-on exposure to the eldercare sector and the chance to shape meaningful activities for seniors.

This is also an opportunity to continue your journey as our unique Youth Ambassador Volunteer, championing active ageing and making a real difference in the community. If you’re passionate about people and ready to create impact, we want you on board!

Overview

As a Youth Task Force (YTF) Member, you will play an active role in shaping the programmes and experiences at our Active Ageing Centres. Your role includes supporting programme development, engaging with seniors, contributing fresh perspectives from a youth lens, and serving as a bridge between youth and the ageing community. You will collaborate with AAC staff, volunteers, and fellow youths to create impactful, age-friendly initiatives that promote active ageing and intergenerational bonding.

Responsibilities:

1. Programme Review & Enhancement

-Assess existing AAC programmes and identify areas for improvement.

-Gather feedback from seniors, volunteers, and staff.

-Suggest enhancements to increase engagement and relevance.

2. Co-creation of Activities

-Assist in designing and piloting new AAC activities tailored to seniors’ interests and needs.

-Support planning and execution during programme rollouts or special events.

3. Youth Representation & Advocacy

-Serve as a Youth Ambassador Volunteer, representing youth perspectives in community ageing initiatives.

-Promote intergenerational understanding and help bridge connections between youth and seniors.

4. Project Support & Implementation

-Work with AAC staff and fellow youth members to implement new initiatives.

-Assist in documenting project progress, outcomes, and learnings.

5. Community Engagement

-Interact with seniors regularly to understand their preferences and experiences.

-Participate in outreach activities to promote Active Ageing Centre programmes.

Requirements

-Students waiting for results/entry to polytechnics/universities. 

-Duration: 3-6 months (extendable).

-Passionate about community service and working with seniors.

-Open-minded, responsible, and willing to contribute ideas.

-Able to commit to meetings, planning sessions, and project activities.
