The successful candidate will be involved in news reporting and feature writing, as well as blogging, creating video interviews, podcasts and other evolving journalistic disciplines primarily for the Asia market-based in Singapore. This position has prospects for lateral as well as upward progression within the team.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting research to uncover interesting and significant news
- Gathering, corroborating and interpreting data
- Interviewing key persons (witnesses, sources etc.) to obtain more information
- Use findings to construct a well-written article
- Retain awareness of the readers’ point of view
- Obtain first-hand information by being present in happenings
- Receive assignments or investigate news leads/tips
- Comply with the moral code of the profession
- Maintain notes and audio recordings
- Keep abreast of developments by studying papers, attending events etc.
Requirements:
- Preferably 1 year experience, either as a journalist or PR executive. Entry level candidates are welcome to apply.
- Possess Diploma, degree in Journalism/Mass Communications/Marketing/Business
- A good flair for writing and reporting
- Good written and spoken English
- A good team-player for a growing editorial team
- Pro-active and able to work independently
- Adaptable to changing business demands at short-notice
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications a must
- Knowledge of video editing, web programming and HTML coding techniques that helps in the production of web pages, digital audio, and video is a plus
- Bold, persistent, confident, and flexible with high emotional intelligence, as well as be able to accept rejection and work past minor setbacks.
