Job Description

PROJECT TITLE  : Trade Operations

Internship Objective:

The internship program at JSW International Tradecorp Pte Ltd (JITPL) aims to provide postgraduate students with a comprehensive learning experience in the wholesale metal/ energy trading industry, focusing on contract drafting, negotiation, coordination with stakeholders, and the overall trade operations process.

Key Responsibilities: Understanding the business from point of view of Operations by understanding contract terms, title documents and business flow.

1. Contract Drafting and Negotiation

  • Learn how contracts are drafted and what relevant documentation are required for trade activities.
  • Understand the deal confirmation terms and ensure all contract details are accurate, including specifications, price and shipping terms.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and the freight team to ensure clear communication and alignment on critical aspects such as laycan, port details, and cargo specifications.

2. Coordination with Stakeholders

  • Interact with buyers and suppliers to facilitate smooth contract execution and address any inquiries or concerns.

3. Contract Data Management and Reporting

  • Understand the essentials of a contract data register.
  • Maintain a comprehensive data register, recording essential details for future reference and reporting purposes.
  • Prepare regular reports on contract execution progress, highlighting key milestones and potential issues.

4. Logistics and Documentation Management

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to coordinate lay can, port of loading, discharge port lay can, and coal type/ quantity declarations according to agreed terms.
  • Initiate processes related to issuing letters of credits, vessel nomination, shipping instructions, and shipping document verification.
  • Ensure compliance of shipping documents with letter of credit terms, including Bill of Lading checking and switching.

Requirements:

  • Students undertaking a undergraduate or postgraduate course in NTU/ NUS/ SMU are welcome to apply;
  • A minimum commitment of 3 months is required;
  • Students are allowed to take 1 day in a week to return to their university to complete any coursework if required;
  • Proficient in MS Office;
  • Meticulous and detail- oriented;
  • Adaptable and independent.
